Val Gardena has become popular amongst mountain-bikers with the Sellaronda Hero event, one of the hardest marathon races in the world, and now the summer activities in the area also focus on the bike topic. And this is good: The density of BikeHotels in Val Gardena has increased, the construction and sign-posting of MTB trails in Val Gardena was supported, and the BikeSchools in Ortisei/St. Ulrich, S. Cristina/St. Christina and Selva/Wolkenstein offer highly professional services for mountain-bikers.

Val Gardena has long been popular amongst road cyclists, and the Sellaronda, the road bike tour leading over four Dolomite passes, has turned into a real classic. The mountain passes are closed to motorised traffic on the Sellaronda Bike Day, which takes place every year. On this day, thousands of road cyclists meet to conquer the passes together.

Where is Val Gardena? Take the Chiusa/Klausen exit from the Brennero motorway and follow the signs to Val Gardena/Gröden. Val Gardena is part of the UNESCO World Natural Heritage site.
