Discover the diversity of Bolzano/Bozen on this 45 km bike tour. From urban attractions to idyllic vineyards, this route traverses this historic region with a gentle elevation gain of 380 m, ideal for an active outing in spring, summer, or autumn.

Directions

From Walther Square, via Verdi Square and the Eisack/Isarco bike path to Kampill/Campiglio Bridge, continue to Kardaun/Cardano and back via Bolzano-Gries. Pass through Rentsch/Rencio and St. Magdalena to the Jenesien/San Genesio cable car, then to Grieser Square and along the Etsch/Adige bike path to Vilpian/Vilpiano. From there, return to Bolzano/Bozen, via country paths to Sigmundskron/Firmiano Castle and back to Waltherplatz.

Piazza Walther/Waltherplatz in Bolzano/Bozen is easily accessible by train, car, or by bicycle via the Etsch/Adige cycle path.

Parking

Several parking garages are near Waltherplatz, such as Waltherplatz Parking and Bolzano/Bozen Center Parking. Checking fees and availability in advance is recommended.


Public transport

Auer is connected to Bolzano/Bozen by train, bus, and the Adige cycle path. Trains run frequently, and the cycle path is well-maintained.


Recommended equipment

A reliable bike, weather-appropriate clothing, and a small repair kit are recommended. A backpack with water, snacks, and a map is useful.


Author's tip

Must-sees include Sigmundskron/Firmiano Castle with the Messner Mountain Museum, the wine village of St. Magdalena, and Bolzano’s historic center. For a break, try one of the few cafés at Walther Square.
