The Little Unterland Circuit is a pleasant and easy bicycle tour through the idyllic South Tyrolean Unterland/Bassa Atesina, suitable for touring, trekking, city, and mountain bikes. Spanning approximately 36 km with a minimal elevation change of about 79 m, this tour is ideal for a relaxed cycling trip. The route mainly follows paved, low-traffic roads and the traffic-free Adige Cycle Path, making it accessible year-round – best during the months of spring, late summer, autumn, and winter.Directions
Start at the main square in Auer and take the Palainweg to the Adige Bridge. After crossing the bridge, follow the main road for about 500 meters towards Tramin/Termeno, then turn right at the end of Mitterberg towards Klughammer or Lake Caldaro. After just 400 meters, turn left onto a farm road heading south towards Neumarkt, crossing one traffic road (be cautious!). Once at the second traffic road, follow it to the Neumarkt/Egan train station. At the roundabout before the station, take the second exit towards Kurtatsch. Continue straight for 5 km to the Adige Bridge at St. Florian/o, cross it, turn immediately right onto the Adige Cycle Path and continue to Salurn. Traverse Salurn, turn left after the church and head north (towards Buchholz/Gfrill), but before the road ascends, continue straight to Laag/Laghetti. Rejoin the Adige Cycle Path in Laag and head back north, passing Neumarkt and returning to Auer.
