Mountain bike tour from Ahornach to Rein in Taufers

Starting point: Stockerhof in Ahornach

The starting point can be reached either by car to the parking area at Gasteigerhof and then continuing by bike to Stockerhof, or by starting directly in Sand in Taufers and following the main road to Gasteigerhof and on to Stockerhof, where the actual tour begins.

Shortly after Stockerhof in Ahornach, the forest road towards Unterrieseralm begins. The well-maintained and signposted road first leads through open meadows and later through dense forest. The climb is steady but can be challenging in some sections. Along the way, there are beautiful views of the Reintal valley and the surrounding mountains. After approximately 6 km, you reach Unterrieseralm, which is an ideal place for a break.

From Unterrieseralm, the tour can be extended towards Rein in Taufers (church). Here too, the route follows a forest road that is partly steeper and technically more demanding. Good physical condition and confident riding skills are therefore recommended.

The MTB trail ends shortly before Hirberhof in Rein in Taufers. From there, an asphalt road leads to the village center of Rein.

Return options:
• Return via the forest road back to Ahornach
• Descend to the village center of Rein and follow the main road towards Sand in Taufers. Please note: there is car traffic on the main road.
