Tour Schenna - Bolzano
E-Bike & Pleasure Cycling
The Adige Cycle Path is a section of the Via Claudia Augusta, following the course of the ancient Roman road. From Merano, the paved route runs flat along the Adige embankment and is partly flanked by the Bolzano–Merano railway line.
The natural and cultural landscape along the cycle path features orchards on one side and the river landscape on the other. Looking further afield, you can spot the villages of the Adige Valley, churches, and numerous castles and manor houses on the mountain slopes. The southern section near Sigmundskron Castle offers a magnificent panoramic view stretching from the Dolomites (Rosengarten/Catinaccio, Schlern/Sciliar) to the plateau of Eppan an der Weinstraße, including the silhouette of the Baroque onion-domed tower of St. Pauls Church and the castles of Hocheppan Castle and Boymont Castle, all set within a splendid wine-growing landscape.
The tour starts in the centre of Schenna. You can reach the starting point via Merano. Follow the signs towards Schenna and drive to the village centre.
