General description

At the foot of the giants of the Dolomites, the Rosengarten/Catinaccio and Latemar, this tour leads over roots and stones. From Welschnofen/Nova Levante, the trail leads steeply uphill past Karer See/Lago di Carezza to the idyllic Mitterleger/Radura di Mezzo. Via paths through the Latemar forest, you reach the Karerpass/Passo Costalunga.

Tip: Ideal e-bike tour or for MTB enthusiasts who like to tackle altitude metres.

Route description

The starting point is the car park at the cable car of Welschnofen/Nova Levante (1182 m). At the beginning, follow the Dolomitenstraße/Via Dolomiti in the direction of Bozen/Bolzano. After 500 m, take the turning lane in the direction of the civil defence centre and briefly follow the footpath until the forest path [27] branches off to the left. The trail leads steadily and steeply uphill to below the Malga Stadl Alm (1520 m). At the junction, follow the asphalt path [25] to the right and shortly afterwards turn right onto the gravel path [25A] and then follow the "Templweg" [8] to the left to the Lake Carezza (1544 m). The second ascent to the Mitterleger/Radura di Mezzo (1818 m) is via trail [11]. Then through the "Karer Wald" forest on trail [21] to the Antermont Restaurant (1750 m) at the Karerpass/Passo Costalunga. Follow the road towards the Val di Fassa for 300 m and take trail [548] to the left at the small car park. The third and last ascent follows. Then take a leisurely walk through meadows and woods below the Rosengarten/Catinaccio on the natural path [1A] to the car park at the "Kaiserstein". Keep left at Nigerstraße/Via Nigra and after 600 m turn right to the village Karersee/Carezza and follow the nature trail along the Franzin lift. On a gravel path you come to a meadow and follow trail [16] to the valley station of the Tschein chairlift. ake the lift to the "Tschein Berg" and follow the new nature trail first in the direction of the Messnerjoch mountain hut and then to the Hut Frommer Alm. Finally, the adrenalin-packed Carezza Trail leads back to Welschnofen, where you can choose between Pumpline and Carezza Trail for the first 1.6 km.
