Starting at the Town Hall Square in Altrei. The route climbs through the forest to Ziss Pass and Horn Alm (1710 m). Return to Altrei via a pleasant downhill section.

Mountainbike

Starting at the town hall square in Altrei we drive through the village towards the Hotel Waldheim, and then we turn left towards Prà dal Manz. The route continues on easy forest trails and leads uphill until it reaches the Passo Cisa (1489m). By continuing, we arrive at the Malga Monte Corno (1710m), the highest point of the tour. We follow the pleasant declining road which brings us back to the starting point in the centre of Anterivo.

Directions

The tour starts at the Town Hall Square in Altrei. Passing through the village, the route continues towards Waldheim and then to Pra’ del Manz. The route follows pleasant forest roads with a steady climb to Ziss Pass and then to Horn Alm, the highest point of the tour. After a break, the route returns to Ziss Pass and descends through the forest back to Altrei. The route is marked with number 8.

Description to arrive at destination

Altrei can be reached via the A22 Brenner motorway. From the Neumarkt–Auer–Tramin exit, the route continues through Auer and Montan to Altrei.

At the public car park in Altrei.

Public transport

To reach Altrei, take the train from Bolzano train station to Neumarkt–Tramin train station. From there, continue with bus line 144 from the station to Altrei. The stop to get off at is “Zentrum”.

Please check in advance whether bicycles can be taken on the bus.

Author's tip

The panoramic views around Horn Alm offer impressive sights of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
Before or after the hike, it is worth taking a walk through the small mountain village with its traditional architecture.
