Kronplatz Enduro
The Specialized-SRAM Enduro Series, an increasingly important series of mountain bike races with events in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy, is arriving in Bruneck, Reischach and Kronplatz on 27-28 July 2013.
Up to 350 bikers from all around Europe are expected to take part in the Kronplatz event. The riders won’t just experience the best trails around and over the Kronplatz during a weekend of racing ‒ they will also discover the unique diversity of this holiday region at the gateway to the Dolomites.
MTB Enduro – a spectacular race format
No discipline is currently growing faster and embodies the community spirit and the original idea behind mountain biking better than Enduro. In contract to a classic mountain bike race, the Specialized S-RAM Enduro Series emphasizes riding in a group. Participants ride around a defined circular course and master 5 spectacular “special challenges”. These special challenges on single trails demand agility and, above all, speed and bike handling skill. The participants bike together from each test to the next, in the spirit of friends out for a ride. This race format thus brings together different mountain bike disciplines like cross country, downhill and freeride in a single event. At the end of the race, after about 700 height metres uphill and 2000 downhill, the times for the individual special challenges are added up and the winner on the timed sections determined.
Programme
On Saturday, 27 July 2013, a short qualification race is held to determine the starting order for Sunday. Then the participants enjoy the rider’s party at the valley station.
The race proper takes place on Sunday, July 28 2013. The Enduro race starts and finishes at the valley station in Reischach. The circular course leads to Bruneck castle and then via various trails to Reischach. From there, a cable car takes participants up to the Kronplatz summit and the route then follows several trails – including the freeride trail Herrnsteig – back to the valley station.
The organizers wish to thank Kronplatz Seilbahn AG, Bruneck-Kronplatz Tourismus, Skirama Kronplatz, Bikehotel Innerhofer, Kron Gastronomie, Bikestore, Grapos, Manuel Caffé, Outdoor Center Kronplatz and many others for their help and support.
