The Ahr Valley cycle route takes you through varied landscapes and is ideal for families and leisure cyclists. The section from Bruneck to Sand in Taufers is flat and suitable for different fitness levels.
Directions
The starting point is at the bus station in Bruneck. From there, follow the signs into the Ahrntal Valley towards Sand in Taufers. The first section of the cycle path passes St. Georgen. After a short ascent, follow a country road along the right bank of the Ahr River to Gais.
From there, the route passes the recreational park and children’s playground before continuing to the industrial area and through fields and riverside meadows to Uttenheim. Continue along the paved country road on the right bank of the river to Kematen. From Kematen, several routes lead to Sand in Taufers. To explore the village, cross the bridge, cycle to the large parish church and then continue to the village centre. The village centre of Sand in Taufers is the finishing point of the tour.
