Family-friendly cycling route through the Puster Valley from Mühlbach/Rio di Pusteria to Innichen/San Candido or onwards to Lienz.

E-Bike & Pleasure Cycling

The Puster Valley Cycling Route is one of South Tyrol’s most popular cycling trails and is equally suitable for families, leisure cyclists and active riders. The fully paved route leads through the varied landscapes of the Puster Valley, connecting charming villages, cultural attractions and impressive natural scenery.

The route starts in Mühlbach/Rio di Pusteria and passes through Niedervintl/Vandoies di Sotto, Obervintl/Vandoies di Sopra, Kiens/Chienes, Ehrenburg/Casteldarne and St. Lorenzen/San Lorenzo before reaching Bruneck/Brunico. This first section is approximately 25.5 km long and almost completely flat, making it ideal for families and recreational cyclists.

From Bruneck, the route continues through Percha/Perca, Olang/Valdaora, Niederdorf/Villabassa and Toblach/Dobbiaco to Innichen/San Candido. This second section, around 33.5 km long, is also predominantly flat and offers ideal conditions for relaxed cycling tours through the beautiful landscapes of the Upper Puster Valley.

Those wishing to continue can follow the route from Innichen through Vierschach/Versciaco to Winnebach/Prato alla Drava, where the Austrian-Italian border is crossed. The route then follows the River Drau to Lienz in East Tyrol. This final section, approximately 44 km long, is gently downhill and particularly suitable for families.

Throughout the route, cyclists can enjoy magnificent views of the Dolomites and the mountains of the Puster Valley. Thanks to excellent railway connections, the return journey can be made comfortably by train. The route is ideal both for shorter day trips and for longer cycling adventures through the Puster Valley and into East Tyrol.
