Mahlknecht Mountain Hut

A mountain bike circuit on the largest plateau in Europe with an unrivalled panoramic view of many distinctive peaks in the Dolomites. From Siusi allo Sciliar the tour climbs steadily, but steeply on asphalt. In this way you cover 430 metres in altitude of the road to the Alpe di Siusi, which is closed to vehicle traffic from 9 o'clock in the morning, up to the Spitzbühel. You turn right along a narrow very steep asphalt road high up to the Spitzbühel. You have more than earned a pause for a breather at the viewpoint with its magnificent view of the Santner Peak. The route now takes you in easy ups and downs across the sensational meadow past the Laurin mountain hut and high up to the fabulously located Molignon mountain hut (refreshment facilities). You leap downhill along wonderful trails to the Tirler and you roll on to Saltria. On the road to Compaccio, where a fun path leads back to the Spitzbühel car park. Here the descent becomes more challenging. (Caution in wet conditions) The route continues on interlocking, narrow trails down towards Bad Ratzes, before an undulating path disgorges the biker at the Alpe di Siusi cable car valley station.
