Historic Rooms Reimagined – The Renovation at Gasthaus Gassenwirt

For three years now, the Gassenwirt in Kiens has been part of the BikeHotels South Tyrol network – welcoming cyclists who, after a day in the saddle, look not only for comfort but also for authenticity. With its recent renovation, this historic inn has been carefully enhanced. The result: rooms that make history tangible while meeting contemporary expectations.

At the heart of the project are four distinctive parlours: the Hubertusstube, the Vetrina, the Stube 1667 and the Rauchkuchl. They reflect centuries of tradition without feeling like a museum. Old wood, thoughtfully restored details and a well-balanced lighting concept create an atmosphere where you naturally want to linger – after a long ride as much as during an enjoyable dinner.

You immediately notice that this was more than a simple refurbishment. The historic substance has been preserved with respect, while new elements blend in subtly. The Stube 1667 already hints at the long history of the house in its name. The Rauchkuchl recalls the origins of rural cooking culture. In the Hubertusstube and the Vetrina, traditional features meet clean lines and contemporary comfort.

For you as a guest, this means arriving, slowing down and sharing stories – perhaps about your latest tour on the surrounding trails or a relaxed ride along the valley cycle path. For generations, the Gassenwirt has stood for genuine hospitality and strong regional roots – and for the past three years, also for the expertise of BikeHotels South Tyrol.

These newly redesigned historic rooms are more than an architectural statement. They are spaces for unhurried conversations, South Tyrolean cuisine made with regional ingredients and moments that stay with you. That is what makes this renovation special: history is not displayed – it is lived.
