Eisacktal Valley Bike Route: Brenner - Bozen

The 96-kilometre Brenner cycle route takes you through the Eisack Valley to Bolzano. Along the way, you will pass gentle hills, villages and cultural sights. The route is ideal if you want to combine nature, culture and physical activity.

 
 

Directions

The starting point is at the Brenner Pass. From there, follow the well-signposted Brenner cycle route gently downhill along the former railway line to Sterzing. The marked cycle path continues through gentle hills, villages and small hamlets. Along the way, you will pass the historic Franzensfeste Fortress and Lake Vahrn. The Chestnut Trail then leads to Neustift Abbey and Brixen.

From Brixen, the route continues through the narrow section of the Eisack Valley towards Klausen, where Säben Monastery is located. Follow the route through the valley to the final destination in Bolzano.

For the return journey, you can take the train. Special tickets for cyclists are available.


Description to arrive at destination

From Mühlbach, follow the SS49 towards Brixen. There, join the A22 Brenner Motorway heading towards Brenner. Stay on the motorway until the Brenner exit.


Public transport

Take the train to Brenner railway station.
