Pustertal Valley Bike Route: Bruneck - Franzenfeste

E-Bike & Pleasure Cycling

The section of the Pustertal cycle path from Bruneck to Franzensfeste takes you through varied landscapes, past historic sites and through different valleys. The route combines nature and culture and is ideal if you want to explore the region in an active and relaxed way.

Directions

The cycling route starts in the centre of Bruneck at 835 metres and follows the Rienz River towards St. Lorenzen. The first section runs mainly on gravel paths, before joining a paved road shortly before St. Lorenzen and leading into the village centre at 810 metres.

The route then continues via St. Martin towards the Gadertal Valley, returns to the Rienz River and follows the railway line west. Passing through Ehrenburg at 805 metres, it reaches Kiens. From there, the route continues through meadows, fields and forests to St. Sigmund, Obervintl and Niedervintl.

From Niedervintl, the trail descends gently past the historic Mühlbach Klause and then climbs to Mühlbach at 777 metres. Via Schabs and Aicha, it finally reaches Franzensfeste Fortress at 730 metres, the destination of the cycling route. Here, the Pustertal Cycle Route joins the Brenner Cycle Route.
