Bike route Gsiesertal Valley
Scenic bike tour from Welsberg into the Gsiesertal Valley, along stream, meadows and villages to Talschlusshütte at 1465 m.

The bike route begins in the center of the village of Welsberg, along the banks of the Gsieserbach stream in the valley. You ride along the old Gsiesertal Valley road to the hamlet of Oberplanken, where you cross the main road. From here you continue along the Talblickweg path and the hamlet of Steinegge to St. Martin, crossing the main road again before the sports field; from here you ascend to the Talschlusshütte hut in St. Magdalena. Return along the same route.

From the village center of Welsberg, follow the right bank of the Gsieser Bach upstream into the valley. Continue along the old Gsiesertal road to the hamlet of Oberplanken, where the stream is crossed and the route continues on the left side of the valley as far as St. Martin. From St. Martin onwards, the tour becomes quite demanding and climbs uphill to the Talschlusshütte at 1465 meters. The return is via the same route. Alternatively, via Pichl, it is also possible to ride back towards Welsberg on the right side of the valley. A connection to Taisten is available through the underpass in Wiesen.
Coming from Innsbruck/Brennero (A): Drive on the Highway of Brennero (A22) until the exit Bressanone/Val Pusteria, then go on along the SS49-E66 for about 58kms until you arrive in Monguelfo. To get to Tesido and the Val Casies Valley, we recommend to take the exit West in Monguelfo.
Coming from Lienz (A): You can reach us also padding by Lienz in Westtyrol (A). You have to cross the Austrian-Italian border between Ahrnbach and Winnebach (B100-E66) and drive on the SS46-E66 until Monguelfo. To get to Tesido and the Val Casies, we recommend to take the exit West in Monguelfo.
