Bike route Gsiesertal Valley

Scenic bike tour from Welsberg through the Gsiesertal Valley to the Talschlusshütte hut at 1,465 m.

The bike tour starts in the village centre of Welsberg and follows the Gsieser Bach stream into the valley. The route continues along the old Gsiesertal Valley road to the hamlet of Oberplanken. From there, it follows the Talblickweg and passes through Steinegge before reaching St. Martin. Before the sports field, the route crosses the main road and then climbs to the Talschlusshütte hut in St. Magdalena. The return follows the same route.

Directions

From the village centre of Welsberg, the route follows the right bank of the Gsieser Bach stream into the valley. Continue along the old Gsiesertal Valley road to the hamlet of Oberplanken, where the stream and the main road are crossed. The tour then follows the left side of the valley along the Talblickweg and through Steinegge to St. Martin. From St. Martin onwards, the route becomes more demanding and climbs to the Talschlusshütte hut at 1,465 m. The return follows the same route. Alternatively, it is possible to cycle back towards Welsberg via Pichl on the right side of the valley. Taisten can be reached through the underpass in Wiesen.
